Raleigh Mayer, the Gravitas Guru, is a senior fellow at the Logos Institute for Crisis Management and Executive Leadership who helps leaders elevate their presence, polish communication, and become more sophisticated at managing their relationships and reputations. She is an advisor, coach, educator, and speaker, serving large
corporations, small organizations, and individual executives.
Raleigh has counseled, coached, and trained dozens of CEOs, CFOs, and CIOs, as well as thousands of business leaders from Fortune 500 companies, representing a wide variety of enterprises including financial services, technology, government, military, advertising, law, consumer products, non-profit, and public interest groups. Some of her signature presentations and seminars include “Getting to Gravitas,” “Persuasive Presentation,” and “The Seven Ups of Successful Leadership.”
She is currently an associate professor of leadership at Columbia University’s Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science and has also been a frequent presenter at Columbia’s Master’s in Business Administration, Professional, and International programs. She has served as a presentation coach for New York University’s Stern School of Business and was also an adjunct professor of communication at New York University’s Marketing and Management Institute for 20 years.
Raleigh is a member of the Forbes Coaches Council and has been featured in O, The Oprah Magazine and Entrepreneur’s Leading Women in Business issue. She is the executive presence correspondent for The Glass Hammer, an online community for women in financial services, law, and business. Raleigh has also been quoted extensively in executive resource articles in the Wall Street Journal.
In her previous position as vice president and spokesperson for the New York City Marathon, Raleigh provided strategic counsel on all public affairs and press matters, directed publicity for corporate sponsors, and was instrumental in the exponential growth and development of the event.
In that role, Raleigh served as official emcee for the J.P. Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge, was a commentator for MSG network, and a featured guest on national network news shows. She was a contributor to The Power of Communication: Skills to Build Trust, Inspire Loyalty, and Lead Effectively by Helio Fred Garcia (FT Press 2012) and has had letters to the editor published in business journals such as Crain’s, Inc. Magazine, and almost every section of The New York Times.
Currently on the leadership council of the Financial Women’s Association, she was also a founding member of Women in Sports and Events, a professional organization for executives in the industry.
A native New Yorker, Raleigh received a B.A. in English with a concentration in Theater Arts from Middlebury College in Vermont.
She has completed three New York City Marathons and sings in cabaret concerts. She is also a member of the SoHarmoniums, NYC’s premier women’s chorus, which has performed at Symphony Space, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.
